Glass Facades: Curtain Wall vs Structural Glazing

A simple explanation of curtain-wall and structural-glazing facade systems, and when each is used for villas and commercial buildings.

Glass facades give a building architectural presence and abundant daylight. Most are built with one of two main systems.

Curtain wall

Aluminium sections are visible outside between glass panels, creating a clear rhythm of vertical and horizontal lines — suited to office buildings and contemporary villa facades.

Structural glazing

Glass is bonded to aluminium sections from the inside with structural silicone (S.G.), so almost no aluminium shows outside and the facade reads as one continuous glass surface.

Shared elements that make quality

  • Double tempered glass in the colour of your design.
  • Electrostatically powder-coated aluminium sections.
  • Gaskets and silicone sealing against water and dust.
  • Outward-opening vents where needed.

How to start a facade project

A facade starts with the consultant’s drawings, the building height and requirements; then the system, sections and glass are proposed before fabrication and installation.
