Sliding doors
- Panels slide on a track; usually one part stays fixed.
- No space needed in front of or behind the door for stacked leaves.
- Ideal for wide views kept closed most of the time with a large glass area.
Folding doors
- Leaves fold onto each other to open almost the entire width.
- Need a small space at one side for the stacked leaves.
- Ideal for terraces, pools and garden seating opened often.
How to decide
Start with the opening width and how you will use it: if you open it daily to sit outside, folding gives a fully open experience; if the view matters most, a sliding door gives more glass and simpler movement.
